Addressing One-Health key questions, the NEMESIS project aims to better understand the health risks related to marine pathogens and antimicrobial resistances (AMRs) in contrasted areas of the Vietnamese coast through an interdisciplinary framework integrating ecological, epidemiological, microbiological and social knowledges.
We will address three main challenges: 1) The inventory of potential pathogenic bacteria (PPB) and antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) that occur in marine habitats and their reservoirs are poorly documented, 2) The effectiveness to which PPB and ARGs are transferred between the marine habitats and human or marine livestock is not well understood, and 3) The health risk for human and marine livestock related to the marine pathobiome and resistome has never been estimated.
