Biographie :
Apres un Master en Ecologie Marine à University of Victoria (Colombie Britannique, Canada), j’ai fait une thèse au CNRS (Centre d’Etudes Biologiques de Chizé, France) sur les interactions des orques et des cachalots avec les pêcheries des iles Crozet (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Françaises). J’ai ensuite étendu mes travaux sur les interactions entre pêcheries et mégafaune marine à d’autres zones (Australie, océan Indien, océan Austral) au cours de postdocs avant d’intégrer l’IRD en tant que chargé de recherche en 2021.

Mes travaux de recherche s’inscrivent dans le contexte général de conflits d’usage entre l’Homme et les espèces animales. J’utilise des approches interdisciplinaires pour évaluer et comprendre les conflits entre pêcheries et mégafaune marine, et développer des solutions durables de coexistence. En particulier, une grande partie de mes travaux se concentre sur l’étude du comportement de déprédation (espèces se nourrissant sur les captures de pêche) des mammifères marins et requins, et sur l’identification de changements dans la pratique de pêche permettant de minimiser, de manière durable, les impacts écologique et socio-économique de ce conflit global.
