The "CEntre du LIttoral et de la MER" (CELIMER) was created to develop public/private collaborations and interactions. With a surface area of 900 m², it is located next to the Ifremer station in Sète and includes 200 m² dedicated to support for collaborative projects, a Biologging laboratory on marine animal instrumentation and a Scenario Lab' dedicated to exchanges on marine biodiversity evolution models.

From 15 May, the artist Gauthier Fleuri will install his work, La Cité des Poissons, in front of the building. This work is temporary: the aim is that it will one day return to the sea as an artificial reef.

Chosen by the citizens and financed within the framework of the participative budget of the Occitanie Region and the Parliament of the Sea, it is composed of several modules entirely made of oyster shells worked and chosen by Gauthier Fleuri in connection with the Regional Committee of the Conchyliculture.

This project is part of a circular economy and citizen approach based on the valorisation of oyster shells and the progressive restoration of biodiversity.
