For the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences, the dance company Steps for a Change, born from the meeting of Yunne Shin (Director of Research IRD, MARBEC) and Emily Lartillot (Director of the dance academy "Les Arts en Scène"), conceived the show "Of roots and sea". Within the framework of the Université de la terre, this show evokes mangroves, major ecosystems for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Supported financially by several organisations, the European Marine Board (EMB), the University of Montpellier, the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) and the Pew Charitable Trusts, this ballet is part of a collaborative Arts & Sciences project that will take place over several years, with performances, exchanges with dance schools, and the dissemination of videos and content to raise awareness of the many facets and roles of mangrove ecosystems.
